EEWeb-Pulse magazine, a leading e-zine for the electrical engineering community, features not one but two stories about Quanser in its January 17, 2012 issue. An interview with Tom Lee focuses on his role as Quanser's Chief Education Officer and on how Quanser's engaged, hands-on approach to engineering education is designed to serve "the overall mandate of the university, as well as the emerging influences and trends of global industry." Quanser unleashes robots and unmanned vehicles for FIRST Robotics high school teams
Twenty high school students from two Markham area high schools will get to spend a morning with professional engineers experiencing innovative technology that could inspire them to choose exciting careers in engineering. Both high schools will participate in the upcoming 2012 FIRST Robotic Championships, with Quanser sponsoring the St. Robert student team. The student teams will have six weeks to design, build, and program a 140-pound robot to compete against other high school teams in a high stakes, no-holds barred, robotics competition solving real-world challenges. They will be aiming to earn a place in the World Championship competition this April in St. Louis, Missouri.

Quanser Designated the First Quanser Center of Excellence
Quanser has designated the College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) in southern India, as the company's first Quanser Center of Excellence. The Quanser Center of Excellence (QCE) is designed to be a regional hub of engineering education expertise—a knowledge dissemination and collaboration point for a geographic region. A Quanser Center of Excellence starts with well-equipped laboratories that allow everything from teaching basic engineering concepts or enabling advanced research in aerospace, robotics, mechatronics, structural dynamics and electronics.

Quanser Adds Chief Education Officer to its Executive Team
Quanser is delighted to announce that it has hired Tom Lee, PhD, to fill the newly-created position of Chief Education Officer.

Dr. Lee's role will be multi-faceted, although key areas will include spearheading the development of Quanser's global academic community, guidance for Quanser technology and solution development, as well as supporting the company's partner and alliance programs.

Dr. Lee comes to Quanser from MapleSoft, a valued Quanser partner, where he was Vice President, Applications Engineering and Chief Evangelist. He will assume his new position at Quanser in June of 2011.

News from NIWeek 2009
Anyone who has been to NIWeek before knows what a great conference it is to attend. Lots of new and cool products, great people from academia as well as industry, plus an energetic atmosphere, make this conference a great experience for all attendees. As a National Instruments partner, Quanser was of course there to show its latest developments in partnership with NI and their software and hardware. We had brought quite a few devices for teaching and research and the demos were getting a lot of attention, especially our Quanser NI Engineering Trainers (QNETs), modular Rotary Experiments and Active Suspension.
