In September we lost a dear friend, colleague, and mentor, Lueny Morell.

Remembering Lueny MorellLueny was a leading figure in the global engineering education community. Her unwavering optimism and pioneering spirit inspired many of us to envision an engineering profession that was more innovative, more inclusive, and deeply cared about the happiness and well-being of people.

Many of us at Quanser first encountered Lueny professionally but we now say goodbye as dear friends. We cherish the countless times we met, talked, and laughed at the many academic meetings around the world. I also have a very fond memory of her visiting us in Canada and a dinner with my wife and three daughters. They remember that they met a hero that evening.

She was truly a global citizen and believed deeply about the inherent kindness and potential of people from every corner of our planet.

We hope you take the time to learn more about our friend and her achievements through the many public memorials including the one from her colleagues at IFEES. She was a truly gifted and accomplished person.

All of us at Quanser would like to offer our deepest condolences to Lueny’s beloved husband Waldy and the rest of her family. In many ways, the work that we do to improve the way we educate, empower, and enlighten the engineers of tomorrow is a direct reflection of her life’s work. She will be missed.
